Writing- Ideas Book

Term 2, Week 2

This term we really want to work on raising the standard of our writing. We want to get better at spelling, grammar, punctuation, overall writing structure, developing ideas and incorporating figurative language.

In term 1 we learnt that one of the hardest things to do in writing is coming up with interesting and original ideas to write about. So to help us with this, each student in room 19 will develop an 'Ideas Book'. An 'Ideas Book' is where you collect ideas for writing such as- pictures, photos and quotes from magazines, drawings of characters and story settings, brainstorming of story ideas, descriptions, titles, poems, song lyrics... You can put anything you like in an ideas book just as long as it inspires you to write!

The students will also be able to take their 'Ideas Book' home because you never know when inspiration may strike! But they must bring them to school each day so they can use then during writing time.

I cant wait to see what interesting and creative ideas my students put in their ideas book!

The class hard at work making attractive and original covers for their ideas book.
Three of the fantastic finished covers. Don't they look great!
