A new term- A new Inquiry!

Week 1 and 2 Term 4

Can you believe it is already term 4- where has the year gone? I guess its true what they say- 'Time flies when your learning and having fun!'

For our Inquiry topic this term we are putting on our science hats and looking at forces and motion. Through our learning of push and pull, action and reaction, levers and pulleys students will design and create a moving model of a fitness circuit equipment piece. All designs and models will be voted on and the best ones will be built to life size and permanently placed around our school field so that students from now until forever can use it to build up their fitness and muscle strength.

To kick of our topic we have been doing a lot of experiments and discovering. We even went to 'Mind Lab' where students built, tested and modified electric cars and made electromagnetic motors!

Production Night!

Week 9 Term 3

To end our Inquiry topic we went all out by putting on a school production! It was an epic event where each Whanau showcased their learning about 'Equal Rights'.

In the Te Manawa Whanau students chose which production group they wanted to be in from- script writing, acting, costume design, props, choir and video production; and over a series of weeks put together an amazing production which depicted the lives of Harriot Tubman, Nelson Mandela and Dame Whina Cooper.

Te Manawa put on a stellar performance and each student should be very proud the contribution they made to such an awesome night!
