Speeches

Week 6 Term 3

In week 3 room 16  all started to work on their speeches to persuade people about their topics. The fear of people having to say their speeches was a problem but the only way to overcome it was to play speech tag.

Speech tag is a game that helps you to communicate with the audience. The way you play it is to say your name and then you say something that starts with the first letter of your name, so for example I will say that my name is 'Juliet' and 'I am jazzy' and then when your finished you go tag someone else and the last person that says it, well that's when its game over.

We then all had to write our speech. We wrote our intro, par1, par2, par3 and then the conclusion. It soon was time for us to show the teacher, then we went and and made our cue cards, then we presented it with all that we had, but the only thing to remember is that our speech needed to be 3 minute long and only 2 people can get chosen. The 2 people that got chosen was Charlize with her speech about 'why women should get paid the same as men in sport' and Terrie with her speech about 'Martin Luther King Junior'.

Note from the teacher: Every student in room 16 did a fantastic job presenting their speech. They showed great confidence when standing up in front of the class and should be really proud of themselves! Well done students of room 16!

Class speech winner: Charlize
Class speech runner up: Terrie

Netball with the Sylvia Ferns

Week 3 Term 3

On Tuesday night Mrs McGarry and her husband went and watch the Sylvia Ferns (SPS year 6 netball team) play a fierce game against the Sun Shiners.

It was a fast paced game with every player giving it their all. Unfortunately, the Sylvia Ferns didn't win but they showed great determination throughout the whole game!

If you want to support our schools amazing netball players go down to the AMI Netball Centre in Glenn Innes on Tuesday nights!
